First Attempt at Oil Painting

I had my first ever experience with oil painting today!! And…it wasn’t as bad as I thought! Granted, I still like watercolor better, but this was pretty fun to work with. The professor had us start out by painting the entire paper with black oil paint, and we had to do a subtraction method by using turpentine and a rag to take out the highlights and define the shapes….This is what my little first oil piece looks like so far. Today we only were supposed to focus on blocking out shapes and adding value, the detail comes on Wednesday!
